OBITUARY December 2011

Less than a month after he retired Dick Schoppe took a fall and was hospitalized. Two weeks later he is no longer with us. He is survived by wife Dana, three daughters and a world full of friends. For the last thirty years while he was at Raders Relics he became to me the older brother I never had. He was an influence always for the highest sense of honesty and integrity. He had more innate mechanical sense than anyone I know and was always helping others with their old car problems as well as in everyday life, never thinking about money. Before his first retirement he drove eighteen wheelers throughout the midwest. Still in love with travel, he and Dana were always ready to hook up the trailer and deliver or pick up a car from anywhere. They always came back telling interesting stories of new friends all over the country. I wish we had kept a journal of all our experiences at the shop, some scary, some funny, some bizzar, all interesting. It was the best time of my life. Thank you Dick, for being a major part of it. God speed, my friend.

CHANGES AT RADERS RELICS AFTER 35 YEARS
With the loss of Dick Schoppe, Raders Relics is changing it's operating style. We are now open by appointment only. Though you can drop by most mornings and probably catch me here, but if you don't want to gamble please call ahead. I feel a connection with friends and customers who over the years have trusted us with some delightful and fun investorcars. Except for an escape to the mountains, I'll keep on keeping on. - Bob Rader

SOLD 1916 Ford model T brass radiator Touring built for just that. He is one of the rarer wide track models delivered to the southern states. He has a Warford transmission ($3500.00 new) and overdrive. 12 forward speeds and 6 reverse?  Side curtains and boot. Originally from Georgia and 20 years with the last owner who loved touring and built his car for that purpose. An estate car. Electric start, 12 volt and other extra goodies that make it easier for driving. SOLD 1935 Ford Phaeton with an older total restoration. Paint is very nice,but starting to show its age. Top, side curtains and rear seat area cover are correct canvas. Seats are a quality grained Naughahyde in the correct pattern. ( looks and feels like leather ) Tires are nearly new with high tread with beautiful wide white walls. 1948 Chrysler Windsor Convertible with just 42,000 actual miles. Probably one of the most original cars we have seen. He has been owned for many years by a gentleman who replaced things as needed with as near to original things that could be found. The paint is original and still show quality. Dash plastic,gauges and controls are like new. Top is canvas as original and only the leather on the seats has been replaced. There has never been any rust or rust repair to this car.
